As you will see, I hand lettered these but if you are not comfortable using your own hand writing, have someone else do it for you or just draw something you would like to have people hold up when taking photos, that's the great thing . . .there are NO rules, just draw what you like! ;)
I always start out with sketching out my designs in a sketch book as it ensures I get the spacing, placement and the vision in my head down on paper just the way I like it. After I am happy with the design, I erase about 95% of the drawing so I can see enough of it to ink but not see my sketch marks after it's inked. Once I decide on the colors I would like to use for my photo props, I start coloring them in and inking them out. I will mention, I did use a blender marker to get some of the gradated effects as the one that comes in my Tombow Dual Brush Pens Bright pack is awesome!
For this project, I thought that designing at least three photo props would be good as you want to have enough so that not everyone is using the same one . . .options people, options! ;) I chose these particular sayings as they could be used for literally ANY party or celebration from birthdays to baby showers!
This DIY craft is not only so much fun, it's pretty easy once you have your artwork done! Here's the DIY for: hand lettered DIY party photo props
1. Gather all of the ingredients you will need: your hand lettered art/artwork, some glittered scrapbook paper, a couple fat drinking straws, various Tombow Dual Brush Pens from the Bright 10-pack, Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive and Tombow Xtreme Permanent Adhesive
2. Cut out all of your artwork in a shape for your props.
3. Using the Tombow MONO Permanent Adhesive, glue your artwork onto the glittered scrapbook paper.
4. Cut out your mounted artwork into the shape you would like the finished product to look like.
5. Using the Tombow Xtreme Permanent Adhesive, attach the cut out mounted artwork to the fat straw (you could also use mini wood dowels if you prefer)
So have you ever made your own custom DIY photo props? Hopefully you will give these a try as people love using them when taking snapshots at a party! Please let me know . . .

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being a finalist for the Tombow team, good luck!!! (I just made the Imagine Crafts team, myself, so I suppose that makes us friendly rivals, lol.) I suppose there's nothing wrong with that, though!
