Today I am sharing a fun project I created for my mantle when I decorated it for fall, this year. Every couple of years, I feel like adding a new piece or two to my fall mantle as I like to switch things up every now and then. I also wanted to get 'my craft on' so I decided to make this craft, a Fall Flower Topiary after looking though my craft stash and throwing these supplies together.
For the supplies, I used a styrofoam topiary from FloraCraft, a couple different paint colors, paint brushes, my glue gun and some bunches of flowers I was no longer using.
Step 1:
I painted the pole of the topiary brown to resemble a tree branch and then the base and the spheres I painted a burgundy color for fall, so it would resemble potted flowers. Obviously feel free to use whatever colors fit into your color scheme and have some fun with it.
Step 2:
Pop the flower heads off all of the bunches of flowers you have collected and put them in piles according to color.
Step 3:
Start gluing the flower heads onto the sphere of the topiary with your glue gun. Make sure to alternate between the different flower heads to get a nice pattern going. Keep gluing until both spheres are nice and full.
Step 4:
Add a simple bow to the base of the topiary to give it that little bit of something extra. ;)
The last step is finding the perfect spot to enjoy your new Fall Topiary! I chose to put mine on my mantle to add to the array of pumpkins I have going on. I think it's the perfect item to soften up the items up there . . .what do you think?
Super fun for fall right? Anyone inspired to try and make one? Raise your hand . . . please let me know below if you think you will try this project as I would love to know if anyone was inspired. Or maybe you have already done a craft similar to this . . . let me know what you did below . . . ;)

DeleteWell done! I think it does add a nice touch to your mantle. :) I guess I need to start decorating for Fall!
ReplyDeleteI must try it! You made it look far easier than I would have thought. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until fall weather. Fall decor is also one of my favorites. This came out so pretty. I love trying new craft projects.
ReplyDeleteHow well do they do if they are outside? I have a space beside my front door that would be perfect! It's shaded from the rain and the wind but I am wondering about the sun?
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the best step-by-steps I have seen! As I have just bought my first house, I am excited to do seasonal crafts!

I would totally make this! I have a bunch of Fall-ish hydrangeas I could use. Great way to repurpose those flowers!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great and you can use it year after year. I don't know if I'm skilled enough though to even attempt it! LOL!
